Katelin Buchanan, LPC

Katelin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia with extensive experience treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, and major life transitions. Katelin is particularly passionate about working with women who are coping with infertility, pregnancy loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). Combining post-graduate training in fertility counseling and PMADs with years of firsthand, personal experience, Katelin strongly believes that counseling is an invaluable tool for women navigating through their motherhood journey. Not only does Katelin come to each client with compassion and understanding, but also experience and education.

The majority of Katelin's career has been spent providing care in a hospital system’s inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels of care. Additionally, during her recent time living in San Diego, Katelin served as the lead clinician for a private practice specializing in women's reproductive health, solidifying her passion for working with this incredibly important (and often underserved) population. Katelin earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Duke University, as well as her Master's degree in Counseling from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She has completed advanced perinatal mental health training through Postpartum Support International and is trained in both EMDR and IPT.

Katelin enjoys running outdoors, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband and three children. She is excited to be back in Virginia after spending five years enjoying southern California. Katelin considers it a privilege to do this work and genuinely looks forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey.

Kristen Mahoney, LPC

Kristen Mahoney, LPC

Kristen is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Supervisor Virginia and Washington, DC. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication from East Carolina University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. Kristen has experience providing mental health care to individuals and families, utilizing her training in ACT, CBT, and DBT.

Kristen has worked in all levels of care in mental health, from inpatient to outpatient, as well as in the public school system. She has worked with women to address a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, and issues related to transition and adjustment. Of particular interest is helping women cope with life transitions including career changes, relationship shifts, parenting challenges, and supporting mothers who have children going through physical and/or mental health concerns.

Kristen also has a passion in supporting clients experiencing reproductive mental health concerns including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility, and pregnancy loss. She has completed specialized training from Postpartum Support International, and continues to grow her expertise in reproductive mental health through self-study, professional consultation groups, and continuing education in order to best serve her clients.

In her free time, Kristen practices mindfulness and yoga, and enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and mini goldendoodle. As an approved supervisor for LPC licensure, she loves working with residents in counseling on case consultation and developing their skill set.
